On 6 May, DPI held an online assessment meeting entitled ‘Turkey and The Kurdish Issue: Geopolitics and The Possibility of a New Initiative’. The meeting brought as key speaker Osman Sert, who is the Research Director at Ankara Institute, Turkey. Osman Sert presented his assessment on the challenges and possibilities in solving the Kurdish issue. He discussed the lessons learned from the previous resolution process of 2013-2015 and potential openings for the resumption of the resolution process. As the title of the assessment meeting suggests, he also spoke about the role of geopolitical developments, both past and recent, in relation to the Kurdish issue. A productive discussion followed, during which participants engaged with the speaker on the current dynamics in Turkey.
