On 11 September, DPI held its first person event since the pandemic. The roundtable called ‘Youth’s Peace Memory & Vision in Turkey II’ was held in cooperation with Istanbul Bilgi University’s Center for Conflict Resolution Studies and Research (CCR).
The meeting brought together a diverse group of youth participants, figures with diverse professional and political backgrounds from across Turkey, including the representatives from the youth branches of all political parties, social workers, young academics, journalists, and artists.
Following our first meeting of the series where we mainly focused on the memory of peace, this second roundtable further focused on youth’s vision of peace, as well as expectations and suggestions, highlighting the social, psychological, and economic benefits of peace for the youth in Turkey. During the workshop sessions, participants were able to discuss different priorities and strategies towards peace through a youth lens, which they later shared with the wider group. Overall, the roundtable provided a platform for fruitful discussions and interactions with our youth group.
The meeting is part of a larger series of activities planned in the context of the project: “Forging Pathways to Peace and Democracy in Turkey”, supported by the Norwegian, Irish and Swiss government.
