From 10–12 December 2024, the Democratic Progress Institute (DPI) hosted an International Conflict Resolution Event (ICRE) in Geneva, Switzerland, bringing together civil society representatives, academics, and journalists.
The discussions focused on peacebuilding, democratisation, and normalising in Türkiye, with particular attention to recent political developments and regional dynamics. Participants explored how these factors influence conflict resolution efforts and the broader political landscape. Geopolitical changes and their impact on Türkiye’s approach to conflict resolution were also analysed, alongside the importance of constitutional reform in addressing long-standing issues. The role of civil society was emphasised as essential in fostering dialogue and rebuilding trust, particularly in an increasingly polarised environment. Key recommendations included strengthening DPI’s role as a trusted dialogue facilitator and organising thematic sessions on critical topics, such as constitutional debates and dividends of peace.
